Open Forest Protocol to start crowd-funding campaign

Open Forest Protocol (OFP) has launched an equity crowdfunding campaign on the investment platform Republic, offering its community the opportunity to acquire shares in the company and support the scaling of its forest restoration technology. After nearly five years of development, OFP aims to onboard more than 1,000 additional forest projects and expand into new verticals such as mangroves and biodiversity by raising up to £750,000. The funding is intended to connect frontline communities and smallholder landowners directly to carbon markets, thereby unlocking new income streams and incentivising long-term forest protection.
The campaign is open to eligible investors in the UK, Europe and selected other jurisdictions, with minimum investments starting from £20. Using Republic’s nominee structure, investors will hold ordinary shares and may benefit from potential future value creation, while being exposed to the typical risks of illiquid, early-stage equity investments. The article explains key concepts such as equity crowdfunding, ordinary shares and overfunding, and outlines the process from pre-registration to payment, settlement and potential secondary trading on Republic’s market.

About Open Forest Protocol

Open Forest Protocol (OFP) is a technology company focused on improving transparency and integrity in the voluntary carbon market through data-backed monitoring of nature-based climate solutions. The organisation provides a digital infrastructure that enables forest projects to register, monitor and verify carbon sequestration using standardised data collection and open-access reporting. Its platform supports afforestation and reforestation initiatives in more than 20 countries by facilitating efficient issuance of nature-based removal carbon credits and connecting project developers to global buyers. By combining remote sensing, ground data and blockchain-based verification, OFP aims to create more inclusive and scalable financing mechanisms for forest conservation and restoration, while ensuring that climate claims are transparent and verifiable.
